Hello there. My name is Dennis L. Duncan, Jr. I welcome you to my graphic design portfolio, which showcases many of the projects I’ve completed over the years for clients, courses, and for myself.

Growing up in Ohio, I got my start in graphic design back in the 90s. I would use Microsoft Paint to illustrate some of my favorite video game and cartoon characters, and to make flyers for church events. After graduating from my high school’s Graphic Design program in 2000, I headed off to Sinclair Community College to enroll in their Visual Communications program. This is where I would begin to develop my skills in Adobe design programs as well as video production and editing. I obtained my Associates from Sinclair in 2012 and spent several years out of school before enrolling in Franklin University’s Interactive Media Design program, where I would receive my Bachelor’s in 2024.

I did freelance graphic design work for over two decades and, while I’ve never held a design job, I’ve been given plenty of opportunities to utilize my talents throughout my career. In 2023, I moved to Missouri to get married and start a family. After moving, I found it difficult to make connections like I did in Ohio, and I knew it was time to change things up. So, in 2025, I decided to take the name of my website - Design by Den - and register it as a business here in Missouri. This has allowed me to not only create another revenue stream for me and my family, but to also make connections with people outside of the corporate landscape. Going official has both reignited my creativity and has pushed me to learn new ways to create.

My Design Principle

My tagline, “Creativity Unprompted”, means that anything you get from me is designed by me - sometimes starting with good old pencil and paper. As such, I will not utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) in any of my work. AI steals from naturally talented and trained creatives to regurgitate its own designs, and so-called A.I. “artists” are profiting from this theft with a simple prompt.
